Yield sign
The YIELD sign is an inverted (point-down) red-and-white triangle. It means you must let traffic in the intersection or on the road you are entering go first, slowing or stopping if needed to do so safely.
When you see it
- ◆ Slow down and be ready to stop as you approach.
- ◆ Give the right of way to traffic and pedestrians ahead.
- ◆ You need not stop if the way is clearly clear, but you must yield.
- ◆ Often used where a ramp or minor road merges with a busier road.
