Green guide signs on freeways name upcoming exits, routes, and destinations. An EXIT sign tells you where to leave the highway and is usually posted well in advance so you can change lanes in time.
When you see it
- ◆ Move into the correct lane early -- do not cut across at the last moment.
- ◆ Slow down only once you are in the exit lane or deceleration ramp.
- ◆ Watch posted ramp speeds, which are often much lower than the highway.
