G1 Knowledge Test
What do you need to bring to the Ontario G1 test?
Quick answer
Bring acceptable identification that proves your identity, legal name, and date of birth -- for example a valid passport -- along with your health card and a way to pay the fee. Check the accepted-document list on ontario.ca before you go.
Acceptable identification
You must show original documents that prove your legal name, date of birth, and signature. A valid passport is a common choice. Bring your Ontario health card as well. The accepted-document list is published on ontario.ca -- confirm it before you travel.
Vision and fee
You will take a vision test at the same appointment, so bring your glasses or contact lenses if you wear them. Bring a card to pay the licensing fee.
Arrive early and prepared
Get to the DriveTest centre early to allow time for paperwork and the vision test. If your documents are missing or do not meet the requirements, you may not be able to apply that day. Confirm everything on ontario.ca in the week before you go.
This is general guidance from an independent study app, not official advice. Always confirm current requirements and fees on ontario.ca.
