G1 Test

G1 Knowledge Test

What happens if you fail the Ontario G1 knowledge test?

Quick answer

If you fail either section, you can rewrite the G1 knowledge test. There is no limit on attempts, but you pay a rewrite fee each time. Because each section is graded separately, focus your study on the section you found harder.

You can rewrite the test

Failing is not the end -- you can rewrite the knowledge test. You need 80% in both the Rules of the Road and Traffic Signs sections, so use a fail as a signal to go back and study the weaker section more thoroughly before trying again.

Booking a rewrite

Return to a DriveTest centre to rewrite and pay the rewrite fee. Check ontario.ca for the current rules on how soon you can try again.

Pass next time

Before rewriting, identify where you lost marks -- rules, signs, or both. Realistic 40-question mocks that show your weakest section and explain every answer turn a near-miss into a confident pass.

This is general guidance from an independent study app, not official advice. Always confirm current requirements and fees on ontario.ca.
