What is the pass mark for the Ontario G1 knowledge test?

You must score at least 80% in each section -- 16 out of 20 correct on Rules of the Road and 16 out of 20 on Traffic Signs. Getting 5 or more wrong in either section means you fail that section.

How much does the Ontario G1 knowledge test cost?

The G1 knowledge test fee is part of a packaged licensing fee that covers the knowledge test, the vision test, and your first road test. Confirm the current amount on ontario.ca before you go, and bring a card to pay.

How do you take the Ontario G1 knowledge test?

You take the G1 knowledge test in person at a DriveTest centre in Ontario. Most centres accept walk-ins, though you can check hours and locations on ontario.ca. Bring acceptable identification and be ready for a vision test.

How long does an Ontario G1 licence last?

Once you pass, your G1 licence is generally valid for five years, and you must move on to the G2 road test within that time. You must hold the G1 for at least 12 months (or 8 months with an approved driver-education course) before taking the G2 road test.

What do you need to bring to the Ontario G1 test?

Bring acceptable identification that proves your identity, legal name, and date of birth -- for example a valid passport -- along with your health card and a way to pay the fee. Check the accepted-document list on ontario.ca before you go.

What happens if you fail the Ontario G1 knowledge test?

If you fail either section, you can rewrite the G1 knowledge test. There is no limit on attempts, but you pay a rewrite fee each time. Because each section is graded separately, focus your study on the section you found harder.
